Supporting Our Teachers
Our teachers dedicate their lives to educating and supporting our children, yet too often we fail to support them in return. Salaries have remained stagnant, and with inflation, many teachers are effectively earning less than they did years ago. That is unacceptable. As your school board member, I will work to ensure every teacher is respected, supported, and fairly compensated.
Improving School Facilities
Strong schools begin with safe, modern, and inspiring buildings. Many campuses across our district need meaningful renovations that go beyond cosmetic fixes — including improved HVAC systems, updated classrooms, and flexible spaces that support collaborative learning. I will prioritize responsible investments to ensure every student and educator has facilities that foster success.
Less Testing, More Teaching
As a teacher, I have seen students spend nearly six weeks each year focused primarily on testing. That is valuable classroom time taken away from real learning. We must reduce excessive standardized testing and give teachers more time to teach and students more time to grow. It’s time to move beyond teaching to the test and refocus on meaningful learning.
Classroom Funding
Teachers shouldn’t have to spend their own money on classroom supplies — yet many still do. As a county, we must ensure educators have reliable access to the funding and resources they need to support student learning and maintain well-equipped classrooms.
Student Opportunities
Not every student will pursue a four-year college path — and that’s okay. As a county, we must expand access to meaningful career pathways, including technical education, internships, and hands-on workforce training that prepare students for stable, long-term career success after graduation.
Cross-County Collaboration
Continuous improvement requires humility and curiosity. We should regularly examine where other counties or districts are achieving stronger results and learn from them. When others excel in literacy, career placement, or graduation rates, we should adapt proven strategies to serve our community.
